DUSKBORN When the sun sets over Eastholde, few dare leave the safety of the walls. The old caverns and ramshackle manors belong to the Duskborn, ancient creatures who abandoned the warmth of daylight long ago. Once, they roamed the lands and mingled with other peoples. Now, a terrible darkness has left them pale shadows of their former selves. To the people of Eastholde, they are monsters. To the Duskborn, the other races are simply sheep for the slaughter. And when darkness falls, their frenzy begins. The night beckons.

REVENANTS Long ago, they ruled a mighty empire that stretched across much of the known world. Their armies marched beneath banners that have long since turned to dust. Their greatest Scholars sought to conquer time itself, binding their souls to cursed armour, tattered robes, and the remains of their former bodies. They succeeded, but immortality came at a terrible price. Their empire has crumbled, their cities forgotten, and their people long gone. Yet beneath the earth, within ancient necropolises, their silent legions lie in wait. It is only a matter of time before a graverobber's shovel or a miner's pick breaks through the stone. And when it does, the Revenants will reclaim what was once theirs.

Aiden of Eastholde A son of House Eastford, Aiden was raised to believe that an oath is far greater than the man who bears it. Eastholde is his charge. Its people are his responsibility. Its enemies are his to defeat. He will face the darkness until his strength fails, his sword breaks, and his last breath leaves him. This is the price House Eastford has stubbornly paid for generations. “A Word Once Given.”
